The Aggies and Tigers will face-off for the second time this season in Red River Rugby Conference play. A&M defeated LSU earlier this season in Baton Rouge by a score of 44-12. Now, on Saturday, February 1, 2020, the Tigers will travel to College Station to play the Aggies again in a crucial match for both teams.
The Aggies are 3-0 in the RRRC and are sitting on top of the conference table with 15 points, tied with Oklahoma (OU is also 3-0 with 15 points). Oklahoma’s next RRRC game is against the Longhorns on February 8 (next weekend). Further, both the Aggies and Sooners have a total of three (3) RRRC games left, so every win / point is crucial in determining how the conference will shake-out.
LSU is currently 0-3 in the RRRC and have zero (0) points towards the conference standings. However, don’t let their current position fool you as the Tigers always bring their “A” game, and they play an aggressive style of XVs rugby that the Aggies cannot afford to overlook. Further, after A&M, the Tigers have only the Longhorns and UNT remaining on their RRRC schedule, so beating the Aggies in College Station would be a huge win for the LSU program.
The game will be at Penberthy this coming Saturday, and I believe kick-off will be at noon (however, that is yet to be confirmed).
